Meet Mae - Proud Condo Owner
Mae is all smiles.
She has received services from Danville since 1996. She used to live with her sister, then Danville helped her find and move into a place of her own. Now she enjoys living with her three pets--Jennifer, Peter and Joy.
Mae has had some support in the past when she was looking for work. The most fulfilling employment experience she had was when she took care of feral cats at a local animal shelter.
Mae has also worked as part of the cleaning crew at Danville's offices in the past. With the help from her peers and job coaches, she provided quality office cleaning and enjoyed seeing the Danville office staff while there. She learned many of the “snack food weaknesses” of our office employees and took advantage of that by creating an “honor basket” and filling it with chocolates, chips and candies which earned her some extra income.
On days that Mae visits our offices, she can be heard in the hallways “cracking the whip” making sure everyone is working hard.
Mae enjoys the people that work with her. She utilizes Danville’s services to support her with banking, budgeting and bill paying. She purchased her own condo a few years ago and knows Danville Services is always a phone call away, if she needs help.
Mae teasingly says, “I like Danville a little bit” as she holds her thumb and pointer finger inches away. She adds “Danville is good to me and they are good at what they do. The staff are there for me.”
