Danville Staff Log On To Therap
Danville Services routinely invests in its infrastructure. That’s part of the deal when you operate dozens of homes and day programs in communities across the West.
Last December, however, the investment Danville made in Therap—an online service that agencies supporting individuals with Developmental Disabilities use to manage their documentation and communication—was far from routine.

Danville’s CEO, Bill Woolston, describes the need for Therap. “Online documentation provides a real time analysis and review of the needs of the people we support. Not only are our managers and directors able to facilitate incident reports, they are also able to see ongoing communication among the support team. Health information updates, behavioral tracking appointments, activities and over all facility issues are available online whereas historically our management team members would have to physically visit the sites to see that information.”
To roll out Therap successfully, Danville bought new Netbooks for every location and trained staff in the new communications system. Raquel Miguel, the Therap Administrator in Las Vegas says, “We all learned how to use the T-logs (staff notes) and S-comms (emails). It was a great change for all of us. We are all excited and everyone is doing a great job using Therap. As time goes by we will start to implement more applications such as GERs (incident reporting), MARs (Medication Administration Records) and ISPs (Individual Support Plans).”
Western Utah Regional Director, Brooks Berg, is also a fan of Therap. With 120 clients and 130 staff in his region, Berg says electronic documentation helps him see what’s going on in satellite locations. “We can now make decisions at light speed,” he says.
“I can immediately reinforce positive behavior at the individual and team level with Therap,” says Berg. “Also, when a staff member makes an entry into Therap, he or she knows it’s going to be seen by the whole organization now.”
Berg notes Danville Services will be introducing new modules and getting even more benefits from Therap in coming months. “We’re just scratching the surface.”
Aside from all the operational benefits that Therap provides the company, the move to electronic file keeping also benefits the environment, thanks to a sizable reduction in the amount of paper used.
